The man who has made it his mission to prove that a black, panther-like creature is prowling around part of Gloucestershire, has now set up secret cameras in the hope of catching it.
Frank Tunbridge, who claims he has recorded dozens of sightings from eyewitnesses since January, has put up film cameras at an undisclosed location on land near Stroud, to catch it moving.
Last month, scientists at Warwick University disappointed believers in the mystery animal, by revealing that deer remains found on land near Woodchester Mansion actually contained fox or dog DNA.
Since then, the Countryside and Community Research institute (CCRI) have been processing answers in a survey, which is aimed at trying to understand why people are so keen to believe in such enigmas.
Rhiannon Fisher, a lecturer at the Royal Agricultural College and a part-time PhD student in the CCRI said:
“ We are not saying that there is or is not a wild cat in the area.
"We are interested in people’s opinions about what might be out there, what sort of thing might count as proof, and what their thoughts are about it.
"We have prepared a simple, short questionnaire that people can complete on-line, and once we have the results we’ll publish them on the CCRI’s website."

Meanwhile, Tracker Frank Tunbridge has set up a Big Cat Hotline: 07711 476715.
