These taunts from Musk kicked off after Zuckerberg made a Threads post earlier on Sunday, where he questioned Musk's seriousness about their highly anticipated cage match.

"Elon won't confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead," Zuckerberg said in his post. "If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on."

Over on Twitter, the social media platform now known as X, Musk accused the latter of trying to get out of their cage fight.

"Zuck is a chicken," Musk wrote in a tweet on Sunday.

"He can't eat at chic fil a because that would be cannibalism," Musk wrote in another tweet, referencing Chick-fil-A, a fast food chain known for its chicken sandwiches.

Besides calling Zuckerberg a coward, Musk has also been taunting Zuckerberg over the differences in their physical size. On Sunday, Musk leaked a series of text messages that he says he exchanged with Zuckerberg. In the screenshot of that message threat, Zuckerberg appeared to rebuff Musk's suggestion that they fight in an informal practice match held in Zuckerberg's backyard ring.

"While I think it is very unlikely, given our size difference, perhaps you are a modern day Bruce Lee and will somehow win," Musk told Zuckerberg, per the screenshot.

Although Musk has been busy touting his training efforts and his physical size, the Tesla boss has yet to set a date for the cage match with Zuckerberg.

And on Friday, Zuckerberg denied Musk's claim that the fight would take place at an "epic location" in "ancient Rome."

"If he ever agrees on an actual date, you'll hear it from me," Zuckerberg said in a Threads post. "Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on."

Musk, for his part, has been non-committal on whether the fight's even going to happen. The billionaire said on Friday that he needs to undergo surgery for a shoulder injury.

"However, there is a problem with my right shoulder blade rubbing against my ribs, which requires minor surgery. Recovery will only take a few months," Musk tweeted.

Representatives for Musk and Zuckerberg at X and Meta respectively did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Insider sent outside regular business hours.
