The etiquette of using a dating app like Hinge isn't always obvious, and in some cases it's still evolving as we all get used to meeting people in new ways.
Consider screenshots, for example: Is it okay to take a screenshot of a chat in Hinge and share it with a friend? Even if you're okay with doing it, would you be comfortable with the other person knowing you've taken the screenshot?
That's why it's important to know if Hinge actually notifies users when a screenshot is taken within the app.

If you are the person intending to do the screenshots, here's the good news: Hinge does not notify users of any screenshots within the app. That means you can capture the profile description, photos and even chat messages without the other person being alerted.
Of course, there's an obvious downside to this, which is that if the other party is keeping screenshots of your chats or profile in Hinge, you have no way to know.

If your privacy is important to you and you'd prefer not to allow other users to screenshot your profile or texts, you might want to check out other social media and dating apps which have enhanced security around screenshots.
To be sure, not all do. Facebook doesn't notify users about screenshots, for example, whether you are using Facebook Messenger or Facebook Dating. Tinder has no notification system for screenshots, nor does Bumble.
Instagram generally doesn't notify anyone about screenshots, but it informs you if someone takes a screenshot of a disappearing photo in a private chat. Likewise, BeReal — an app which focuses on daily in-the-moment photos — notifies you when someone takes a screenshot of your photo with a small icon, which you can tap to see who took the shot. Similarly, the highly security-conscious Snapchat puts a notification directly in chat messages that you've taken a screenshot.
