JasonMartin (FKA Problem) Unveils New Project "I Owe Myself"

JasonMartin, the artist formerly known as Problem, is carving out a new era in his career. The Compton legend has expanded well beyond the confines of hip-hop in recent years. Now, he’s undergone a name change that encompasses a new chapter in his career. Using his birth name, Chachi is back in action with his latest project, I Owe Myself. The 10-song project, produced entirely by The Melodiks, showcases JasonMartin’s maturity and evolution. Features from Terrace Martin, Nate Curry, Dea Galore, and more help shape up the project into one of JasonMartin’s best.

“It was time. Your name is everything when it comes to this business. Calling myself Problem at this stage of my life just felt irresponsible and counterproductive; especially when my whole existence has been built off creating solutions for others” JasonMartin said in a statement about his decision to change his name.  “I also felt that continuing my career using the name my parents gave me was bigger for the extension of my family tree.  Thank you 2 Chainz for giving me that extra push to do it.”

JasonMartin Emerges With I Owe Myself

I Owe Myself already gained incredible praise before its release. Terrence “Punch” Henderson of Top Dawg Entertainment praised the project on social media earlier this week. “I had the opportunity to listen to this album the other night.  Phenomenal music.  Problem has always been an elite MC, but the growth and truth in this body of work is truly inspiring.  Great work champion,” he said. The arrival of JasonMartin’s new album, I Owe Myself comes as he gets deeper into the world of film. The artist formerly known as Problem is set to appear in the upcoming reboot of White Men Can’t Jump starring Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls.

For over a decade, JasonMartin’s blessed fans with a number of projects that cemented his place in the culture. In 2017, he blessed fans with back-to-back-to-back releases of Chachiville, Rosecrans with DJ Quik, and Selfish featuring Nipsey Hussle, IAMSU, Terrace Martin, Ne-Yo, and more. However, in recent years, he’s unveiled some equally incredible bodies of work, such as Coffee & Kush Vol 1 and 2 in 2020, which aligned with the launch of his brand of the same name.
